As a design professional for over 30 years, I knew when it came time to make some changes in my own home, I wanted the best. Mike Zimmermann of Gladys Design is that. He was able to take my ideas and run with them. Since my house was built in the 50's we expected problems along the way; termites, outdated plumbing and electrical considerations, as well as cracked stucco and plaster.

While the bathroom is not large at 10' x 6', it was to involve the removal of a tub and a bookcase in an adjoining room to create a shower/steam room, the addition of a skylight and the exchange of a small exterior window for 12 one foot square clear glass blocks from Germany. The remodel also included new 12" x 12" Indian Multi-color slate on the bath floor and on the walls and ceiling of the shower. Also included was the installation of heating elements under the slate floor, and the installation of a new wall heater.

The steam generator, as well as new plumbing, had to be added to a tight crawl space under the house and a series of plumbing changes needed to be placed in both new exterior and interior walls. New lighting and the installation of speakers in the shower and skylight meant work in a crowded attic as well. The shower has three types of shower heads, also from Germany. Fortunately Mike has experience with this manufacturer.

Mike was also able to find and install a slab of the Indian Multi-color slate for the sink cabinet that matched that of the walls and floor.

As we ran into unexpected problems (almost a given in a home this old and with a designer this particular) , Mike was always ready with a solution, often more than one. It is a pleasure to recommend Mike Zimmermann of Gladys Design.
