I purchased a 1932 Spanish style home that needed a new kitchen and bath. I contacted Mike Zimmerman at Gladys Design upon a friend's recommendation. He came to the house and discussed the work I wanted to complete. He showed me previous work he had completed. When I decided to go forward, he arranged for a reasonably priced architect to draw up the plans. Mike started the job promptly when promised and worked at my home for 4 months to complete the renovations. When I moved into the home, I told Mike I would need my washer/dryer and a fridge hooked up in the garage since I would be living without a kitchen. Mike ensured this was taken care of before my move in date. Throughout the demolition and construction project, Mike was always prompt, completed what he promised to complete and made sure he communicated with me on a daily basis so I stayed informed on progress. He made numerous suggestions to improve the project, most of which I found to be very valuable. Mike treated the improvements as if he was making them to his own home. His work was of excellent quality. His subs were also all nice people who offered helpful suggestions and completed their portion of the work on time. Mike was very patient, taking the time to explain each step along the way, ensuring I was happy with each phase of the work. He offered great ideas as to the reconfiguration of the kitchen that allowed me to modernize the kitchen yet keep most of the 1930's charm. When visitors came to stay with me during the construction, he did his best to make sure rooms and conveniences were usable to make their stay more pleasant. Each day I came home to a work site that was swept clean and he took great precaution to minimize the dust and disruption to the rest of the house. I think I got excellent value for the amount of money spent on the project. I know Mike did many little things without charge. I cannot say enough good things about working with Mike. Most people seem to have only horror stories concerning their contractors. I feel lucky to have met one with integrity who keeps his promises and does high quality work.
